Monday, August 7th

Monday august 7th

We slept in late again! We got up, had a quick breakfast of leftovers and packed up all our belongings. We hooked up the boat trailer and made it down to the beach by the crack of noon!
We loaded up the boat and headed north to tour the lake.
We drove around the point and west a bit into the bay where Sunshine Houseboats was located. We parked along the dock and walked around for a while. We toured one of the houseboats and it was cool. We bought some ice cream and headed north even further.
After about twenty minutes before we arrived at Kookanusa Village formerly known as Sweetwater. There were giant mansions spread all over the place but not a beach for miles nor hardly a tree in sight. It was quite windy there but there were sure some beautiful houses.
We headed back home to Newgate and loaded up the boat onto the trailer.
There was a storm blowing in so we decided to head home. Was much easier today with no accidents to contend with but an off a lot of drivers taking risks. We stopped at the Alberta border for 15 minutes for our mandatory both inspection is they ran hot water through my boat leg to kill any muscles or molluscs that had built up while at Koocanusa.
Filled up with fuel and headed north on Highway 22 into the pouring rain for half an hour and super strong north wind. We went east to Nanton and then north to home and made it in 4 1/2 hours with stops at A&W in Fernie and the boat inspection at the border so made very good time.
We got home and unpacked the boat and then relaxed in front of the television for a while before heading off to bed at midnight. What a weekend!

Sunday, August 6th

Sunday August 6th

Not quite as much of a panic to get going today as we were expecting the Mazureks for breakfast at 10:30. W got moving around 930 and had sausages, bacon, pancakes and fruit ready to roll by 10:45. A few moe visitors came and w not but we were down to the beach b noon.
So awesome to have the boat already in the water and ready to go. We climbed on and took the boys kneeboarding for an hour before dropping Nicholas off at the surf boat so he could go surfing for an hour before lunch.
More hours of swimming off the boat in various bays around the south shores. We blew up a few of our tubes and took all 4 kids out and had a blast. W parked the boats at 8'and went for a delicious supper of steak and chicken before Darren and Jacob went fishing for an hour arriving back at 10. We had more smores and hot pies before calling it a night at 11:30. Great day!

Saturday, August 5th

Saturday August 5th

Not a great sleep but drifted in and out of consciousness til around 9. Had many visitors pop by as at least 5 families from Chaparral live on this street! As I drove the golf cart to check on our boat, I noticed another family that live 10 houses down in our street on Chapman Way! Les and Krystal and their daughter Addison. Les told me to hop in his truck and we toured the entire property and went over to Newgate to visit the Mazureks. We headed back to Madera and packed up everything for our boating day.
We picked up the boat and headed to the marina and took the boat covers off and successfully backed it in to the lake and got it running! Yay! Krista parked the truck and trailer beautifully and we picked her up on the beach and located the Mazurek clan. We pulled out all the inflatable toys and blew the, all up and then chose one three seater and took Nicholas Jacob and Keira around the lake for an hour.
We went south up to the American border area and accidentally boated in US waters for a while before determining exactly where the line was and whoops - we were over it.
We stopped and had lunch and a visit with Derrick/Kevin/Jason/Alyssa as they were surfing with his Malibu. We had a quick visit then continued tubing. Jacob took a break and Nicholas and Kiera wanted some circles so we went around for a while until the tube flipped over and they went flying. Nicholas ended up getting major scratches on his arms and stomach from the tube. Time for a beach break.
We had a few snacks and then went back out. Nicholas tried wake boarding for a while and then Darren wakeboarded and slalom skied extremely successfully. We toured around the eastern shores and then headed back to park for supper. The day had disappeared and it was 8pm. We took our trailer back to storage and left our boat in the water anchored to some concrete.
We repackage and headed over to Newgate Sandy Shores to Mazureks for an amazing supper of burgers and salad before getting an invitation to go surfing behind Robinsons boat. The boys were pumped!
Out we went onto the lake and watched Kevin Jason and Derrick take turns. Nicholas got his chance and after some quick instructions popped out of the water on his first try. With the sun setting quickly in the West, we were out until it was dark at 1030 pm! Crazy!!
We parked the boat and headed up to the campground for a late night propane fire with S'mores and fire pies.
We headed back to our campsite after midnight and had a terrific sleep. What a fantastic day!
